Proven Ingredients

Why our formula works

Three vasoactive actives, each addressing one of the three physiological pathways that drive female arousal. Compounded in a topical cream for direct, localized application.

Arginine HCl 6%

Nitric-oxide donor

A precursor to nitric oxide, which dilates blood vessels. Increased blood flow to vulvar and clitoral tissue is the foundation of arousal physiology.

Papaverine HCl 5%

Smooth-muscle relaxant

A long-established vasodilator that relaxes smooth muscle in vascular and erectile tissue. Enhances local engorgement when applied topically.

Alprostadil 0.2%

Prostaglandin E1

Originally developed for male erectile dysfunction; topical Alprostadil increases vulvar/clitoral blood flow and sensitivity in women.

Female arousal is physiology, not willpower. Topical actives target the physiology directly — and the clinical data is solid.

The science

How female arousal works

Arousal isn't emotional alone — it's a vascular and neural process. Three things happen when the physiology is supported.

↑ Blood flow

Vasocongestion

Increased circulation to clitoral and vulvar tissue is the first step of arousal. Hormonal shifts at perimenopause can blunt this response.

Smooth muscle

Tissue relaxation

Smooth muscle in vascular and erectile tissue must relax for engorgement. Papaverine has been used clinically for this since the 1970s.

Nerve response

Heightened sensitivity

Local prostaglandin signaling sensitizes nerve endings. Alprostadil enhances this pathway when applied topically.

Personalize your treatment

Top 3 concerns by age

Hair thinning has different drivers at different life stages. Here's how HairMax addresses the most common concerns at each.

Postpartum changes

Arousal and sensation shifts after childbirth. Topical vasodilation supports the return to baseline blood flow and sensitivity.

Stress & libido

Cortisol blunts the arousal response. Topical actives bypass the hormonal feedback loop and act directly on tissue.

Birth-control side effects

Some hormonal contraceptives reduce circulating testosterone and arousal. Topical Rx provides an option without changing your contraceptive plan.

The mechanism

Three pathways, one cream

Each active addresses a distinct physiological step in the arousal response. Together, they cover the full pathway.

I

Increase blood flow

Arginine HCl drives nitric-oxide-mediated vasodilation, increasing circulation to clitoral and vulvar tissue.

II

Relax smooth muscle

Papaverine HCl relaxes vascular smooth muscle in erectile and surrounding tissue, allowing engorgement.

III

Enhance nerve sensitivity

Alprostadil sensitizes nerve endings via prostaglandin E1, restoring physical sensation locally.

Eligibility

Is Her Arousal right for you?

Her Arousal Rx contains three vasoactive actives. Most adults can use it safely — but cardiovascular conditions and certain medications require a conversation with your provider before starting.

Application protocol

How to apply Her Arousal Rx

Apply 15–30 minutes before intimacy, or as your provider directs. The cream begins working within 10–20 minutes and effects last approximately 60–90 minutes.

  1. 01

    Wash hands thoroughly

Both you and any partner should wash hands before application. Topical Alprostadil can transfer if not contained.

  2. 02

    Apply pea-sized amount

Apply a pea-sized amount to the clitoral and vulvar area. A thin layer is sufficient — more does not increase effect.

  3. 03

    Massage gently

Gently massage into the tissue for 30–60 seconds. Allow 10–20 minutes for absorption before activity.

  4. 04

    Avoid transfer

Do not allow the cream to come into contact with sensitive eye, mouth, or open-skin tissue. Use a barrier method if appropriate.

  5. 05

    Limit to as directed

Do not exceed your provider's prescribed frequency (typically up to once daily). Wash applicator finger or wear a finger cot.

When to apply

Apply 15–30 minutes before anticipated intimacy. Effects build within 10–20 minutes and last 60–90 minutes.

Mild warmth normal

A brief warm or tingling sensation after application is expected — that's the vasodilation working. Sharp burning is not normal; stop and contact your provider.

Effect, not cure

Her Arousal Rx works each time you apply it. It does not change your baseline physiology — apply when you want the effect.

Layering with actives

Avoid Vitamin C serums or chemical exfoliants on the same nights. Discuss layering with your provider.

What to expect

Your results timeline

10–20 min

Onset

Vasodilation begins. Most patients feel a subtle warmth and increased sensitivity at the application area.

30–45 min

Peak

Maximum vascular and neural response. Optimal window for intimacy.

60–90 min

Sustained

Effects gradually decline. Some patients report continued sensitivity past the peak window.

2–4 hours

Return to baseline

Vasoactive effects subside. No residual systemic effect. Reapply as directed for next session.

Long term

No tolerance

Her Arousal Rx works each time without building tolerance. Many patients use it ongoing for years.

Timing reflects average response from clinical literature on topical vasoactive compounds. Individual results vary based on baseline cardiovascular health, age, and underlying causes of arousal concerns.

Your questions

Frequently asked

How quickly does Her Arousal Rx work?

+

Most patients feel onset within 10–20 minutes of application, with peak effect at 30–45 minutes and sustained activity for 60–90 minutes. Apply 15–30 minutes before intended intimacy.

Will my partner be affected by transfer?

+

Topical Alprostadil can transfer through skin contact. If your partner has cardiovascular conditions or takes nitrates, use a barrier method or wash the application area before contact.

Is this safe to use with my heart medication?

+

Not in all cases. Nitrates, certain blood-pressure medications, and recent cardiac events are contraindications. Tell Dr. Ressalam your full medication list during intake — she will review carefully before prescribing.

Can I use this if I'm on hormonal birth control or HRT?

+

Yes — Her Arousal Rx is non-hormonal and works locally on tissue. It does not interact with systemic hormones and can be used alongside contraceptives or HRT.

Will I build tolerance over time?

+

No. The actives in Her Arousal Rx work pharmacologically each time you apply them. There's no tolerance buildup the way there can be with some oral medications.

How is this different from Addyi (flibanserin)?

+

Addyi is a daily oral pill that affects neurotransmitters and works on desire. Her Arousal Rx is a topical applied before intimacy that works on local blood flow, smooth muscle, and sensitivity. Different mechanism, different use case.
