About compounded prescriptions

Compounded medications are prescription drugs prepared individually for a specific patient by a licensed pharmacy, based on a prescription from a licensed healthcare provider. Compounding allows for precise dosing, custom formulations, and combinations that may not be commercially available.

Important: Compounded medications are not FDA-approved as finished products. The active ingredients are FDA-regulated, but the specific compounded formulation is prepared to your prescription and is not subject to the same FDA review process as mass-manufactured drugs. Compounding pharmacies are regulated under section 503A of the Federal Food, Drug, and Cosmetic Act and licensed by individual state pharmacy boards.

Brand-name FDA-approved products dispensed through HerTelemeds (such as LATISSE®) are not compounded; they are dispensed in their original FDA-approved form by Pharmpedia under Dr. Ressalam's prescription.

Do not mail prescription medications back

Federal law prohibits the resale or reuse of dispensed prescriptions. We cannot accept returns of any prescription product. If you receive a damaged or incorrect order, contact us first at support@hertelemeds.com — we'll coordinate with Pharmpedia on proper disposition. For information on safe medication disposal, visit FDA.gov/disposal.
