WEEKS 2–4
Initial response
Fresh PIH from recent shaving, body acne breakouts, or new scars begins to lighten. Surface-level discoloration responds first. Some patients notice early changes within the first two to three weeks.

Body skin is resilient. This formula meets it where it is.
Seamless Skin Body Cream delivers prescription-strength hydroquinone at 12% — the highest concentration in the Seamless Skin line — in a formulation specifically compounded for body skin, which tolerates and responds differently than the face. Clinician-prescribed and targeted to the places where shaving, friction, back acne, surgical scars, and repeated inflammation leave their mark, this is PIH treatment calibrated to the skin doing the most work.
Size
30g (30-day supply)WHAT TO EXPECT
At 12%, Seamless Skin Body Cream delivers the highest amount of active hydroquinone per gram in the Seamless Skin line. Body skin — thicker, less reactive than facial tissue, and often subjected to repeated friction and shaving — can tolerate this concentration, but monitoring still matters. Higher compounded concentrations may be more efficacious, but carry increased risk of side effects and require clinical supervision.
WEEKS 2–4
Fresh PIH from recent shaving, body acne breakouts, or new scars begins to lighten. Surface-level discoloration responds first. Some patients notice early changes within the first two to three weeks.
WEEKS 6–10
Established dark marks — back acne scars, friction-related patches on the knees and elbows, shaving-related darkening on legs and abdomen — become noticeably lighter. Skin tone begins to read as more consistent.
WEEKS 10–14
The standard recommendation is to use hydroquinone for no more than 12–16 weeks continuously. This is the window for maximum cumulative improvement. Deeper, more established pigmentation is significantly lighter, and completed skin renewal cycles are visible in the surface tone.
How long can I use Seamless Skin Body Cream safely? You shouldn’t use hydroquinone for more than five months at a time. If you see improvement, use the product for up to four months, then begin to taper off. Wait two to three months before resuming. At 12%, this guidance is non-negotiable — your HerTeleMeds clinician will monitor your progress throughout. Hydroquinone concentrations greater than 4% in treatment courses longer than 3 months have been associated with new-onset ochronosis — a very rare but difficult-to-treat bluish-black discoloration of the skin. Ochronosis has been most frequently reported in women of African descent and Fitzpatrick skin types V–VI. Clinician oversight is what makes this prescription safe to use. A note on concentration and fit: 12% is the strongest formulation in this line — and strongest does not automatically mean best for every patient. Higher concentrations can cause irritant dermatitis, which can itself lead to further hyperpigmentation. If you experience flaking, dryness, or raw patches, your clinician may step you down to the 10% or 6% formulation. Every body responds a little differently, and finding the right match matters more than reaching for the highest number.

ABOUT THE TREATMENT
Post-inflammatory hyperpigmentation on the body is its own category. Body skin is thicker and more durable than facial tissue — but it’s also subjected to daily friction, repeated shaving over large areas, and the kind of chronic low-grade inflammation that builds quietly over time. The result is PIH in places that don’t always get addressed: the back and shoulders where body acne forms and leaves marks; the neck and chest from sun exposure and friction; the knees and elbows where pressure and friction concentrate; the buttocks, a high-friction area prone to dark patches; and the legs and abdomen from shaving and razor bumps. Surgical scars that have darkened over time. Stretch mark-adjacent discoloration. Anywhere a bra strap sits.
Waxing, shaving, rubbing the skin, and wearing clothing — all these daily actions can cause hyperpigmentation on body skin. For women with deeper complexions, where melanocyte response to inflammation is naturally more pronounced, these marks can be significant and persistent.
Body skin tolerates actives that facial skin cannot. The skin on your back, legs, knees, and abdomen is structurally different — thicker epidermis, less reactive vasculature, more resilient barrier. A formulation designed for the face uses inactive ingredients selected for facial sensitivity. Seamless Skin Body Cream uses inactive ingredients compounded for body skin — a different texture, a different absorption profile, and a concentration level appropriate for the tissue it’s treating.
The 12% hydroquinone concentration is the highest in the Seamless Skin line and is reserved for body use precisely because body skin can handle it where facial skin often cannot.
Hydroquinone inhibits tyrosinase — the enzyme responsible for melanin synthesis — directly at the melanocyte level. Unlike surface brightening agents, hydroquinone targets the actual melanin production process, working on excess pigment at its source rather than exfoliating it from above. At 12%, it delivers a concentrated clinical dose to areas where the skin is thick enough to absorb and respond effectively.
The goal is not lighter skin. The goal is skin that looks even, consistent, and like itself — free of the patchy, uneven marks that inflammation and friction leave behind.
For body use only — not for use on the face, genitals, or anus.
HOW TO USE
STEP 01
Apply to completely dry skin after showering or cleansing. Body skin absorbs actives best when fully dry — don’t rush this step.
STEP 02
Use a thin layer on specific areas of PIH — back acne scars, shaving marks on legs or abdomen, dark patches on knees, elbows, or buttocks. Spread across affected areas, not over large zones of healthy surrounding skin.
STEP 03
Areas that receive sun exposure — neck, chest, shoulders, arms, legs — need SPF 30 or higher daily alongside this treatment. Sun exposure can worsen hyperpigmentation and directly counteract the treatment’s benefits.
STEP 04
Some dryness in the first week or two is common. Persistent flaking, raw patches, or worsening of pigmentation are signals to pause and contact your HerTeleMeds clinician. You may be stepped down to the 10% or 6% formulation, or transitioned to a non-hydroquinone option for any areas showing sensitivity.
For body use only. Do not apply to the face, genitals, or anus. If you are also using a Seamless Skin face formulation, apply each product only to its intended area and keep them separate.

FAQ
Any area of the body experiencing PIH from shaving, body acne, friction, surgical scarring, or sun damage — including the back, shoulders, chest, knees, elbows, buttocks, and legs. It can also be used for stretch mark-adjacent discoloration, abdomen darkening from shaving or pressure, and neck and décolletage sun damage. For body use only — do not apply to the face, genitals, or anus.
Body skin and facial skin have fundamentally different structures. Body skin is thicker, less reactive, and has a more robust epidermal barrier — which means it can tolerate higher concentrations and different inactive ingredients than the face. The 12% concentration used here would be inappropriate for facial tissue. The inactive ingredients in Seamless Skin Body Cream are also different — chosen for their compatibility with body skin’s texture and absorption profile, not for the delicate sensitivity requirements of facial formulation.
Three things: concentration, formulation, and intended area. The face creams use lower concentrations and inactive ingredients selected for facial sensitivity. This body cream delivers 12% hydroquinone in a body-specific formulation. Using a face cream on the body is generally well-tolerated but less effective. Using a body cream on the face can cause significant irritation. Use each product only in its intended area.
12% is the highest concentration in the Seamless Skin line and is the highest concentration appropriate for body use in this protocol. Whether it’s the right match for you is a clinical question. Higher concentrations may be more efficacious but carry increased risk of irritant dermatitis — which can itself lead to further hyperpigmentation. Your HerTeleMeds clinician will assess your skin and your PIH before prescribing.
Kojic acid and azelaic acid are gentler, OTC-accessible options that work on a similar tyrosinase-inhibiting mechanism at lower intensity. For mild body PIH, they can offer gradual improvement. For deeper, more established body PIH — particularly back acne scarring, surgical marks, or long-standing friction-related darkening — prescription-strength hydroquinone at 12% typically produces faster and more measurable results.
You shouldn’t use hydroquinone for more than five months at a time. After seeing improvement, use the product for up to four months, then begin to taper off. Wait two to three months before resuming. At 12%, your clinician will be actively reviewing your progress — this is not a product to continue without guidance.
For any areas receiving sun exposure — neck, chest, shoulders, arms, legs — yes, SPF 30 or higher is necessary. UV exposure directly counteracts hydroquinone’s effect and can deepen existing pigmentation. For areas covered by clothing, this is less acute but still worth maintaining. Sun protection is the single most important factor in preserving the results this treatment produces.
Yes — many patients use both. Apply each product only to its intended area and keep them separate. Do not apply the body cream to the face or any sensitive area, and do not apply face formulations to large body areas expecting the same clinical effect.
